Urban Decay Blush in Score

This is a sad post for me, because as you can see my blusher is coming to an end and once you get to this stage you start to realise you're going to have to repurchase soon. So, when I looked up online recently for a replacement, I was devastated to find that it is no longer in stock anywhere! I am not sure how long it has been out of stock, but I am guessing a while, as I have had this for over a year at least.

This is the best blusher I have ever tried, it has the perfect sort of pink/coral colour for my skin tone and it has a seemingly highlighter quality about it that just makes your cheek bones stand out! I love this blusher and I really wanted to get another, but alas I cannot, as I have looked everywhere and cannot find it! I have no idea why they discontinued it, as in my opinion it was the best blush on the market!

I would love to have a new favourite blusher, any ideas?

Quick update

I thought I would give you a quick update, as I recently won a competition by Alessia from Whispers From Angels! I was so excited to hear I had won, as with so many entries I really didn't expect to be the winner! My prize? Well, I'm glad you asked, as it is ... drum roll please... £75 worth of Feel Unique vouchers!! I know, right? I am spoilt for choice on that website! I haven't bought anything from there before! I have browsed many times, but we all do that don't we?!?! So, now I have some serious decisions to make when it comes to spending all those pennies! So, watch this space, a haul post will probably appear (very) soon!

But, before I place my order, I would love to hear what you would buy! Any ideas for me?

Margaritas

With summer coming to a bit of an end, I thought I would share a quick post with you on something a little different. I know using a mix is a bit of a cheat, but I have tried making my own cocktails and I am definitely still learning (either waaaay to strong or seems like just ice). So, I bought this mix to have a cocktail that wasn't mixed wrong in some way, shape or form.

I thought I would give it a little review because I found myself really loving this mix! I am a bit of a fussy eater and drinker, so to find something that was perfect for a 'fancy' summer afternoon/evening I was very impressed! It doesn't require tequila as it is included in the mix, so you don't have to start measuring out how much you need and getting the measurements right (one thing I have failed at in the past - don't ask how). I find it quite a refreshing drink and you can make it even more authentic by adding the salt to the rim of the glass, which finishes it off nicely!

Have you tried any summer cocktails that you're going to miss?

I'm still here... honest!!

I thought I would write a quick post to say I'm sorry that I have been MIA for a little while, life has just been getting back to normal/hectic with university starting again and my normal term time commitments returning, plus a few more this year! So I am going to try and keep up to date with blogging, but please bear with me and as much as I would love to be able to blog every day I will not be able to at the moment! I will try and tweet etc and I think I have Instagram (don't ask) so I will get that all sorted so you can at least look at pictures of my day - It's not that interesting but I'm nosy so I presume other people are too :)

5 minutes, 6 products, 1 quick makeup routine

I'm sure I am not the only one who has had to go from 'meh' to ready to go out for a meal in about 5 minutes. It's not always because we have left getting ready to the last minute (OK - quite often its because we have lost track of time) but it is also because we have run into the house and have all of ten minutes to make ourselves look decent again after a full day of work/uni/college etc.

Being nosy I love to know how you lovely ladies manage this turn around, so I thought I would share my quick makeup face with you.

If I have hardly any time at all, I will skip straight to foundation, obviously using my all time favourite, couldn't live without it: Clinique Superbalanced. It has one of the best coverages I can find, yet is so light on the skin. I really would recommend this product! Anyway, I've tried to tell you how good it is numerous times on this blog, so I shall leave it at that for now.

I am a big fan of using correctors with a little bit of foundation to hide blemishes or dark circles under my eyes. For this I use Seventeen Even Tone Corrector (I lost the lid a while back) and mix the two and it works better than concealer in my opinion! Plus it is super quick to apply!

Next of course is a blogger favourite, Rimmel Stay Matte Powder, a product I wouldn't feel complete without! It keeps most of the shine at bay and makes my face look much more flawless than going without it!

I will do a post on this blusher soon, as it is no longer being sold *sobs* but Urban Decay blusher in Score is one of my staple go-to products, but I am trying out new blushers all the time to see if any compare (I'll let you know how I get on). But, none-the-less I think blusher is an important part of my makeup, adding much needed colour to my cheeks!

Some of my favourite mascaras have always been Rimmel mascaras. Having picked up the new Scandaleyes I am still impressed with them. Mascara can make or break a look for me, as without it I just don't look right, there is something missing when you have most of your makeup on but no mascara, it just looks strange, don't you think? Or is that just me?

Last, but by no means least, is a lip product, be it lip gloss, lip stick, lip tint, I think a bit of colour on your lips just makes you feel a bit more glamourous. I tend to opt for Clinique Chubby Sticks in any shade! (the one above is Super Strawberry). They are so easy to apply and give nice moisturising colour to your lips!

I would love to hear about other tips on a quick turn around, so please leave any ideas in the comments below!

Make your own bookmark

To make your own bookmark you will need:
  • Length of string (twine is preferable) or ribbon
  • Card
  • Glue
  • Decoration (optional)
  • Sellotape (optional)
  • Notebook (optional)

To make:
  1. First decide on the type of bookmark you are wanting, I went with the traditional bookmark that is attached to a notebook, but you can easily adapt this to make them however you want.
  2. Measure and cut your piece of string so that it is longer than your notebook, ensuring you can attach it to the underside of the front cover, stretch it to a page near the end and it will still drop out the bottom as shown below (Fig 1).
  3. Cut out two small square of card, the size is really up to you, as to how big you want the tag at the bottom to be. Cut off the two top corners to make a label shape.
  4. Decorate one side of each piece of card. I used washi tape and I am obsessed with the stuff at the moment!
  5. Glue the non decorated side of one of the pieces of card and place the end of the string on this, but not all the way to the bottom of the card, only about 2/3 of the card should have string stuck to it. Glue the other piece of card to the string and the card so that you have two pieces of decorative card on show with the string sandwiched in between.
  6. Place in notebook like you intend to use in order to work out how much string you can stick to the underside of the notebook cover.
  7. Use Sellotape to secure bookmark(s) (Fig 2).
  8. Finished!

OPI Polka.com

If you have been reading my previous posts you will probably know by now that I recently bought a set of four OPI Euro Centrale collection lacquers. This is the third in that collection: Polka.com. It is the traditional OPI glitter consistency, where you will have to make sure that the glitter is evenly applied all over your nails, however I tend to have to do this with most glitters that I buy if they are of the same sort - being that they have larger glitter pieces, so I don't see this as a disadvantage or a reason not to buy OPI glitters.

The lacquer is absolutely gorgeous in my opinion, as it is a mixture of pink, purple and blue glitter, which I personally love as a mixture and I think they go really well together. It won't cover the whole nail unless you apply quite a few coats, so I would suggest wearing it with a different polish underneath. From the different options I have tried I really would suggest a darker shade, with my personal favourite at the moment being OPI Eurso Euro, which came with the same set and is a dark purple which you could mistake for a dark navy in the sunlight.

From owning a few OPI glitters I personally think it is of the same high standard, however I would love to know what you think of this polish, or all OPI glitters in general!

Soap & Glory Hand Food

If you read my blog on a regular basis you will be aware that I reviewed this product a few weeks ago and I was not keen what so ever. But, that was my skin type just being fussy. The comments I got and other reviews I read made me think I should give this a second chance, so I did and I thought it is only fair to share my second opinion with you.

I did not want to chance making my hands angry at me again, so I made sure they were in good condition before applying the Hand Food and I only used a small amount to reduce risk of redness. This time, although I could tell it was on my skin, it did not hurt like the first time I used it, which I took as a very positive sign! However, I think the main reason I did not get red sore hands was because they were in good condition in the first place, which means this is great to have in your bag just for those times when you feel the need to pamper your hands a tad. But for me, I need a hand cream that is heavy duty and will help chapped hands quickly and painlessly this autumn/winter, which unfortunately isn't this product. So, I thought I would clear that up with you, as it had been plaguing me that people may have been put off buying this product. I just have to get used to the fact that I can't use such things on my skin, but it doesn't mean you can't!

Boots Tea Tree & Witch Hazel Day Moisturiser

Recently I started to notice that by the time I got home after a full day out I was looking a tad on the shiny side, which isn't the look I am aiming for at all! So when I received my Boots vouchers with the voucher for this free moisturiser (full size no less), off I went to get it. I have tried the range before and they are amazing products, as they not only work, but exceed any expectations you have! So, of course this time my expectations were still reasonable, but I expected it to do as it said on the tube!

I definitely noticed a reduction in shine on my skin after a full day, which is very impressive. The weather was even warmer on the day I tried it and I used such a small amount (I refuse to miss any of my Clinique 3 - step) and it still worked. There is still some shine - mainly just my forehead, but still much less than before.

Also, I am unsure if this is just coincidence or due to the moisturiser, but the condition of my skin is vastly improving! The few blemishes I kept seeming to get are disappearing and few - to - none are replacing them. The range is targeted at helping improve skin, so I am at the moment still trying to work out if it is coincidence or if this product really is that amazing!

I am most definitely impressed with this product and so far the whole range has just seemed unbelievably fantastic! What measures have you taken to reduce the horrible shine?
